The Preoperative Assessmen! t Center at University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview is seeking a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist to work on a casual basis to provide preoperative medical and surgical evaluations of surgical patient candidates. See about seven to eight direct patient evaluations per day and will have oversight of phone assessments completed for other patients. Conduct pre-anesthesia surgical assessment, history and physicals and psycho-social evaluations. The clinic is part of the academic hospital and services at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview.
Ideal candidate must possess clinic experience with complex adult patients. Previous anesthesia clinic experience is preferred but not required.
Practice Information
Anesthesiologist supervised practice in clinic setting to assess pre-hospital surgical candidates in order to medically optimize them for simple to highly acute/complex surgical procedures. ! Patients may have significant co-morbidities. Routine engageme! nt with supervising anesthesiologists, primary and referring physician and consulting services. Screening of patients referred by surgeons for anesthesia consults. Requires individuals with excellent communication skills and strong commitment to thoroughness and follow through.
Referral/consultative services include: cardiology, interventional radiology, medicine and neurology.
Serve a patient population of simple to highly complex patients with signitificant co-morbidities who are surgical candidates.
Clinic on-site services include lab and EKGs.
