Under indirect supervision receives incoming calls; pages medical center personnel on request; maintains various records as required.

Essential Functions:
  • Receives & routes incoming calls to appropriate stations

  • Pages medical center personnel

  • Records & processes request for telephone equipment repairs

  • Serves as central communications point for all in-house emergencies; i.e., Code Red & Code Blue

  • Responds to callers inquires following established procedures & policies

  • Performs various clerical duties such as maintain current reference of patient's location, listing of on-call personnel & listing of beeper personnel

  • Announces appropriate & urgent messages as approved by supervisor over paging system

  • Performs other related duties, as required, such as but not limited to operate Health Phone & monitor administrative disaster system

  • Assume other activities & responsibilities from time to time as directed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a telephone operator preferred

  • Typing 25 wpm required

  • All testing must be completed by the end of the posting period

Notes:

  • 24hr department.

  • Schedule to include all shifts, rotating weekends, holidays and floating within the established seniority sections.
