Manages the business, professional and technical program operations of the Anesthesia department in collaboration with the CRNA directors and anesthesiology Section Chair. Works in partnership with Anesthesia leadership in the planning and controlling of operational and capital budgets. Responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance, providing leadership to the organization and within the department on continuous process improvement. Has the overall responsibility of the East Region anesthesia business manager, including operational aspects of revenue cycle, compliance, equipment and supplies. In addition, responsible for working with finance to manage East Region regulatory and reimbursement ! updates and issues.
Develops, implements, monitors an! d drives necessary operational standards and measurements by establishing key business performance indicators (KPIs) internally and measuring against external best practices to ensure optimal outcomes. Aggregates and analyzes data from various financial and operational systems in order to produce useful management tools that will enhance outcomes and drive decision making and accountability. Manages key projects for anesthesia division related to revenue cycle, documentation compliance and value analysis. Drives revenue enhancement and cost controls/reduction efforts in order to achieve fiscal year operational goals. Reviews monthly operations and financial results, as well as develops monthly reports/presentations. The Business Manager will collaborate and coordinate with various Essentia Health leaders to ensure compliance and accurate data collection is achieved to support a seamless continuum of care, compliant processes, optimal reimbursement, an integrated EHR, and ef! ficient anesthesia functions.
Supervises, directs and manages the support staff on the patient charging, billing, documentation compliance and inventory. The Business Manager directs support staff with orientation and ongoing education for staff and has input into program development. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers and others.
QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements)
Education and/or years experience required:
- Bachelor Degree in Health Information Management, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study. MBA preferred
- 5 years of healthcare revenue cycle experience in acute care and ambulatory settings with leadership experience.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant anesthesia billing conventions and requirements in acute care and professional fee billing preferred.
- Proven project management skills w! ith ability to handle multi-task environment.
- Excellent knowle! dge of healthcare financial models and key operational indicators.
- Preferred experience in financial analysis and billing or program development.
- Licensed RHIA preferred.
