Your Opportunit y

Stantec is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our Environmental Services Practice working within our Northern California region. The position is to be based out of our Sacramento, Roseville, Nevada City, Chico, San Jose, Tahoe or Reno Office; geographic alignment with other Stantec offices will be considered based on experience. Stantec offers flexible work locations (including working from home), flexible work hours and a robust compensation and benefits package.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • As an Environmental Planner, you will provide land use planning knowledge to support environmental review needs for public and private projects. Task duties may include environmental permitting, technical study support for a range of projects, environmental impact analysis support, coordination on biological and cultural assessment support, CEQA and or NEPA support, municipal zoning ordinance review, and land use planning and coordination for environmental projects. Experience with the review and development of project descriptions/scope of work, familiarity with environmental review processes, permitting assessment process, and a general understanding of local municipal planning and/or biological resource constraints within the Northern California region is required.
  • As an Environmental Planner, you will support multi-disciplinary project/program teams in all phases of the execution and delivery of utility hydro operations and maintenance projects.
  • This position requires attention to details, strong skills as a self-starter, and an ability to participate in multiple projects simultaneously, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role will also include support to project management teams on dynamic projects.

  • Outgoing personality to network within Stantec, with outside partners and clients (public and private sectors) and potential clients
  • Solid time management and follow-through skills
  • Strong research, analysis, and reporting abilities
  • High function in detail-orientation skills
  • Capability of managing large data sets
  • Self-starter and team-oriented professional
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Familiarity with review and analysis of scientific data, maps, and drawings
  • Willingness to travel and work in a variety of field conditions across the west
  • Ability to comply with all Stantec and client policies including those related to safety

Preferred

  • NEPA experience
  • CWA 404/401 permitting
  • CA Fish and Wildlife 1600 permitting experience
  • Ability to identify opportunities and build relationships with clientsProficiency with MS Excel is a plus. Ability to work with multiple disciplines is preferred.

Education and Experience

  • 3 - 5 years of overall experience with; 3 years of experience performing environmental planning and permitting work
  • Bachelor degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management/Planning, Biology, Land Use Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies or a related field
  • Strongly proficient in computer software including Excel and MS word
  • Experience working in the field under rugged conditions on foot
  • Experience in the support of delivering high quality work products to multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Experience with local and state permitting and CEQA
  • Experience with desktop analysis for determination of field survey needs for projects
  • GIS (Arc View) experience
  • Proposal and/or Grant Writing Experience

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $35.38 Per Hour - $51.30 Per hour (CA, CO locations only)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
