Assistant Director of Admissions and Advising, Undergraduate Programs [United States]


 

Gould’s Office of Undergraduate Law is seeking a self-motivated, highly energetic, innovative professional to serve as our Assistant Director of Admissions & Advising and to advance and promote our mission of introducing students to the concepts of law early in their undergraduate studies. This position will work closely with the Director of Undergraduate Programs to manage yearly admission cycles, student recruitment and outreach operations. This position also assists in the planning and execution of recruitment strategies, oversees departmental day-to-day activities, engages with campus partners, student organizations, administrative units along with other relevant units at the university, and supports a foundation for strategic growth.

The successful candidate will demonstrate skills and interest in recruitment and outreach, strong relationship-building with a genuine interest in working with prospective and current undergraduate students, staff, and faculty involved with undergraduate courses and programs. This role requires a modest amount of national and international travel during the admissions cycle with some weekend work both on and off-campus.

The Assistant Director of Admissions & Advising is responsible for the day-to-day administrative functions of Gould’s Office of Undergraduate Law. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provides admissions, outreach and recruitment services to a diverse group of prospective students. Serves as the main point of contact between the university’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Gould’s Office of Undergraduate Law.

    Coordinates program services with other offices and colleagues on campus. Serves as a resource for information-exchange on program services and features. Makes formal presentations to prospective students and their families and high school counselors year-round.

  • Oversees student workers in their role as student ambassadors for the Office of Undergraduate Law. Assists with recruiting student workers, works on the hiring process and on task assignments.

  • Researches and gathers information for program purposes which may include: program effectiveness and student assessments. Conducts preliminary analysis of data. Submits recommendations and prepares reports, as assigned.

  • Responds to inquiries and requests for information regarding specific program functions. Coordinates program services and/or activities, meetings and events. Represents the law school at outreach and recruitment meetings and events.

  • Provides leadership and guidance to student ambassadors/volunteers and student organizations. Arranges with vendors for various services. Ensures satisfactory follow-through on assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Assists with undergraduate registrar and student affairs-related tasks – including scheduling, registration and exam administration, student accommodations and academic integrity matters.

  • Serves as the main contact for Gould-affiliated undergraduate student organizations and manages related budgets, along with updates to policies and procedures related to student organizations.

  • Develops segmented long-term strategies for marketing and promoting programs, such as marketing research and development of marketing plans, personal networking, publications, event planning and outreach in consultation with the law school’s Communication’s Office.

  • Develops, produces, and distributes publications and other promotional materials for program marketing in consultation with the law school’s Communications Office.

  • Prepares and strategizes on communication materials promoting programs and activities, e.g., newsletters, bulletins, fact sheets, brochures and our website. Manages social media material/accounts, promotion, and data tracking in consultation with the law school’s Communications Office.

  • Depending on law school business needs, will assist with exam administration and/or proctoring each semester and with Commencement activities each year.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

  • Familiarity with University’s Student Information System (SIS), Slate, and undergraduate advising systems.

  • Familiarity with undergraduate policies related to admissions and academic services.

  • Experience with undergraduate student advising.

  • Experience with office administration in a university/higher education setting.

  • A marketing and social media background.

  • High level of professionalism.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Excellent written and oral communication.

  • Highly organized with attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, Canva.

  • Proficient skills in cross-function communication and conflict resolution.

  • Highly efficient, able to succeed in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Extremely reliable, thorough, resourceful, and proactive.

The hourly rate range for this position is $34.10 - $38.47.
