New Ulm Medical Center, located in south central Minnesota, is a full-service health care campus, providing an array of patient care services through its integrated clinic and hospital. Responsibilities
- The Staff Nurse Anesthetist is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist who is involved in the administration of anesthesia and related services, including pain managment
- Follows the established safety and health measures
- Performs and documents pre-anesthetic assessment
- Performs intra-operative care safely, efficiently and cost effectively
- Post-anesthesia care
- Clinical Support Functions
- Risk management
- Continuing education
- Performance improvement
- Follows appropriate compliance measures
- Depar tmental functions
Education
- Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor
- Registered Nurse, graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Qualification/Skills
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a CRNA
- Experience as a CRNA in smaller setting (without anesthesiologist supervision), OB, newborn/infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric experience preferred
Skills
- Able to work interdependently when anesthesiologist/other anesthesia providers present
- Able to work independently when anesthesiologist/other anesthesia providers not present
- Teamwork; clear and effective verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to set goals, prioritize and accom plish goals in a timely manner
- Effective in continuous quality improvement for self and the department.
- Able to effectively and safely triage multiple concurrent requests for anesthesia services in a cost-effective manner
- Must be able to administer general anesthesia, spinals, epidurals and Monitored Anesthesia care. Ability to administer interscalene, axilary, Bier, TAP, popliteal, ankle, femoral, adductor canal preferred.
- Must be able to perform effectively under stress; problem solve independently, possesses critical thinking skills; stable temperament; effective communication skills.
Licensure/Certification
- Holds current state licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Minnesota and complies with any applicable state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning the advanced practice of nursing
- Current certification (re-certification) as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
- A ANA/MANA membership preferred
- Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by Allina Health System
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
Work Schedule
This position is casual and will fill in when other CRNAs are on vacation or have other time off.
