We are looking for THREE BC/BE Anesthesiologists for the Minneapolis VA Medi! cal Center in Minneapolis, MN. This assignment will begin 2/1/14 for THREE years.
The hours are 6-7 AM and ends at 2:30-3:30 PM (depending on case load), Monday - Friday, possible overtime and on-call 1 of every 7 days and every 7 th weekend currently. OR workload in FY11 Consisted of 5,868 cases with additional anesthesia services provided to GI, cardiac cath lab, interventional radiology. Services provided by Anesthesia Services include care for all patients undergoing general, regional or monitored anesthesia; consultative services regarding pain management; consultation for patients receiving sedation for procedures outside the OR; anesthesia care patients undergoing ECT; establishing airways during CPR and other emergencies. Predominate age of surgery patients is 65-75; average ASA classification is 3-5. Ten operating rooms are staffed daily for surgical cases. All types of complex surgery (except transplants) including cardiopulmonary bypass procedures! , surgical subspecialties for ENT, eye, general surgery, gynec! ology, colon rectal, neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastics, podiatry, urology and vascular surgery. In-house anesthesia is required. This medical center conducts numerous cardiac cases, large vascular cases (aneurysms), extensive cancer surgeries, etc., with over 66% classified as major. There are 7-8 staff anesthesiologists and 23-25 CRNAs with a training program for CRNAs with the U of MN that the physician will support. Will provide direct anesthesiology services for full range of the above services including administration of anesthetic agents, pre-procedures assessment, intra-procedure monitoring and post-procedure follow-up. Administers anesthetics and conducts supportive therapy and post operative care. Performs acute pain control procedures and does post-operative pain management consultation.
The Anesthesiologist be licensed in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the US or District of Columbia and shall be full and unrestricted. Must possess current BLS and ! ACLS. Must be able to qualify for an academic appointment at the University of Minnesota to function as staff Anesthesiologist at the Minneapolis VAMC. Cardiothoracic, neurological anesthesia and pain management required.
