Owatonna Hospital, located in Owatonna, Minn., approximately 60 miles south of Minneapolis, provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services to approximately 35,000 inpatients and outpatients annually.
It has 340 employees and 36 staffed beds. More than 52 active Owatonna Clinic-Mayo Health System physicians and consulting physician specialists work hand-in-hand with hospital-based physicians to provide a continuity of compassionate care for all patients. Responsibilities The Registered Nurse provides skilled nursing care, health teaching, and counseling, of patients, as well as su! pervision and teaching of nursing personnel, and utilizes the ! nursing process skills of assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluation Provides direct patient care to neonate through geriatric patient populations Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment Communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient condition Assists with the maintenance of surgical equipment and inventory Participates in performance improvement activities Assesses operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure Monitors and provides patient care during phase 1 recovery Qualifications Education/Experience Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing Current RN licensure in Minnesota CPR certification current Current experience in appropriate clinical areas is required, including previous intraoperati! ve circulating and phase I recovery ACLS BLS PALS Skills Clinical competence in all areas of the position descriptions and unit/service specific competencies Refer to units/service orientation plan Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population served This includes knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan, assessment and interpretation of the patient's status, identifying patient requirements relative to age/development and providing care as described in policies and procedures Demonstrates caring behaviors of listening, showing respect and compassion, and accepting individuality Physical efforts: position requires frequent walking and standing, with occasional sitting Position requires occasional twisting, bending, stooping, lifting , pulling, and pushing Normal range of motion is required Position requires the abilities of distinguishing colors, hearing, and effectively communicating Position requi! res lifting up to 50 pounds Also requires fine motor skills Position wi! ll be exposed to infectious materials Must have basic computer skills This includes the ability to use a keyboard and mouse, basic understanding of personal computers including terminology, hardware and software, understand the Windows environment, utilize e-mail, ability to access the internet, and use Windows tool bar and understand its functions Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule Part time position 30 hours/week Day shift 10 hour shifts, variable start times, weeday and weekend call rotation MNA contract RN hires with less than 1 year of RN experience must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing (American Association of Colleges of Nursing or The National League for Nursing) which is inclusive of a clinical rotation in an acute care facility.
