Owatonna Hospital, located in Owatonna, Minn., approximately 60 miles south of Minneapolis, provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services to approximately 35,000 inpatients and outpatients annually. It has 340 employees and 36 staffed beds. More than 52 active Owatonna Clinic-Mayo Health System physicians and consulting physician specialists work hand-in-hand with hospital-based physicians to provide a continuity of compassionate care for all patients.
Responsibilities
The registered nurse provides skilled nursing care, health! teaching, counseling, and referral of patients, as well as su! pervision and teaching of nursing personnel, and utilizes the nursing process, skills of assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluation
Provides direct patient care to neonate through geriatric populations
Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment
Communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient conditions
Participates in performance improvement activities
Prepares surgical patients for the operating room in the pre-operative area
Monitors and provides care during phase I and phase II recovery
Qualifications
Education/Experience
Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
Current Minnesota RN License
CPR certification
Current ACLS and PALS certifications
Current experience in appropriate clinical areas is preferred - including Phase I and phase II recovery as we! ll as pre-op experience. Will consider those without experience also.

Clinical competence in all areas of the position description and unit/service specific competencies
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population served
This includes knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan, assessment, and interpretation of the patient's status, identifying patient requirements relative to age/development and providing care as described in policies and procedures
Demonstrates caring behaviors of listening, showing respect and compassion, and accepting individuality
Must have basic computer skills, this includes: the ability to use a keyboard and mouse, basic understanding of personal computers including terminology, hardware and software, understand the Windows environment, utilize email, ability to access the internet, and use Wind! ows tool bar and understand its functions

Casual position (no hours guaranteed per week)
Day/Evening shift
Rotation between days/evenings with 12p as the latest start time
Rotation of on-call during the week and on weekends
MNA contract
RN hires with less than 1 year of RN experience must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing (American Association of Colleges of Nursing or The National League for Nursing) which is inclusive of a clinical rotation in an acute care facility.
