Position: Attendance Officer
Location: Warren County
Job Opening: The Warren County ESC is seeking full time applicants for the position of attendance officer for the 2023-2024 school year. The attendance officer enforces state and local attendance policies, investigates cases of reported missing children and files truancy charges with juvenile court. The attendance officer works with school administrators, teachers and school staff, parents, and officials from Juvenile Court to improve attendance of all Warren County student referrals.
Essential Functions:
- Enforce state and local school attendance policies
- Investigate absences, truancies, or cases of reported missing children
- Check residency of parents and students
- Assist in developing an excellent working relationship among WCESC, school administrators, teachers and school staff, parents, students, courts, and community to improve the quality of attendance on the part of Warren County students
- Work with school districts to formulate a systematic method in dealing with chronic absenteeism
- Work with school districts to establish attendance intervention plans
- Be knowledgeable of community agencies that may be resources for schools in dealing with truancy, behavior issues or underprivileged students
- Create an awareness among school administrators that attendance issues need to be addressed as early as possible in the student's experience
- Be knowledgeable of Ohio attendance laws
- Be a liaison between school and court
Qualifications: Candidates are preferred to have a bachelor's degree
Contract: 221 contract days.
Salary and Benefits: Hourly rate per WCESC salary schedule and is commensurate with experience
